A high quality repair and paint job requires 5 basic steps:
Repair Damage
Prepare surface

1.Prep:Remove trim, door handles, mirrors, window moldings, and name plates

2. Repair: Grind and sand the area, or if required replace the entire panel with quality parts.

“This finish adds value through improving appearance, paint adhesion, and the overall corrosion protection of the vehicle”

Automotive Pretreatment exhibits a wide array of benefits including:

  • Superior Corrosion Protection
  • Improved Metal Cleanliness
  • Excellent Paint Adhesion
  • Increased Uniform Metal Appearance

3. Primer/Sealer: Prime bare metal and use surfacer to ensure straight panel repairs.  Use sealer to promote the best adhesion

Fill/Sand/Primer

Primer is a critical layer in a vehicle’s decorative coating because it provides several benefits for the vehicle owner. Primer helps smooth the metal surface, resulting in a more appealing reflective appearance. It provides a cushion layer against the impact of road debris to reduce paint chipping. Finally, primer works with the coating layers above and below it to improve overall corrosion resistance, adhesion, and long-term weathering durability.

4. Base/Clear:  Computer match and apply the base coat and  2 heavy clear coats.

Base Coat/Clear Coat

We use PPG’s Deltron® 2000 (DBC) Basecoat which is a state-of-the-art, premium quality basecoat/clearcoat system designed to reproduce the hi-tech O.E.M. finishes found on today’s import and domestic vehicles.

In 2002, PPG introduced the first scratch resistant clearcoat to the automotive marketplace. Since then, scratch resistant clearcoats have rapidly become the standard in the automotive industry.

PPG leads the market in offering a variety of scratch resistant clearcoat technologies that not only meet the rigorous requirements of automotive manufacturing facilities worldwide, but also help vehicles retain a showroom-like finish for a longer period of time. The result: greater satisfaction with consumers, as they enjoy the look of their vehicles for a longer period of time.

5. Color sand and buff:  Remove imperfections for “better than new” repair
